How I managed the project
- 01
Interviews with colleagues from the profession, to check the problem was real.
- 02
Wireframes in Figma for both sides of the platform.
- 03
The performer's profile as an audiovisual CV.
- 04
The company's side, with every candidate in one format and moving through stages.
- 05
Messaging inside the app, so the process never leaves it.
The problem
Performers live with a lot of uncertainty during casting processes. They send an application and never hear back, or they do the first casting and often have no idea whether they are still being considered or were dropped before a second round. On the other side, production companies receive artistic material in all sorts of formats, which makes it very hard to compare.
How I did it
I interviewed several colleagues from the profession and asked them about their experience in their last castings, not about what they thought of my idea, so as not to influence them and to check that the problem I saw was real. Then I designed every wireframe in Figma and built CastIn, a job platform only for the performing arts, with two connected sides. The performer has a profile that works as an audiovisual CV and applies to specific roles. The production company posts castings and receives every candidate in the same format, so it can filter them by role and move them through stages, and the performer sees the status of their application at all times. The whole process, including the messaging between company and performer, happens inside the app.

Result
MVP ready, and I can't wait to launch it and test it with real users.
